Greater overview with tiny people in the background... Excelsior Geyser was the largest geyser in the world. Its eruptions were over 200 feet wide and up to about 300 feet in the air. In the late 1880s Excelsior went dormant, though it did spring back to life in 1985 for a few days, erupting to much lesser heights of 20-80 feet. Excelsior is now a productive thermal spring, presently discharging 4050 gallons per minute.
